Unlike a conventional foundry, we have two ways of accessing our work, the more familiar Commercial Licensing, which you can read about below, and our own Grassroots Access which allows everyone to download the font without purchase.

We have done this because even though we are a type foundry we also recognise the importance of this work to the mission to give the language and its written identity a fighting chance at cementing itself back into cultural relevance!

Cad é an Grassroots Access?

Cad é an Grassroots Access?

Grassroots Access replaces the Trial or Personal license tiers with an Open Access model, allowing more people to use & interact with our work for personal projects and permitted public uses. The main difference is this access isn't a license therefore Companies and Brands do not qualify, Please reach out for any clarification.

The following Public Uses are Permitted through Grassroot access:

Social Media

Use in posts, memes, quote graphics, and recurring content, unlimited in volume or frequency, provided it isn't used to represent/ displayed alongside/ used in association with a brand, company, or organisation as part of marketing of any kind.

Conceptual Work

Portfolio work, student coursework, zines, posters, banners, merch concepts, motion design, and design briefs/challenges, can be published anywhere, while the work remains conceptual.

Protest

The font may be used by Attendees at protests and marches for your own placards, signs, banners, and slogans, permission must be obtained before used by Organisers for official event material, some goes for Fundraisers.

Personal Identity

The font may be used to render your own name, in any personal context, at any size or frequency, this includes on Business cards, Portfolio websites/Social Pages, with a small credit line naming the font and foundry.

*if the personal identity evolves into a brand based on the name and font, (like a makers mark or logo),

then a logo license must be purchased.

Try it out!

You won't get any other marketing shite, I'm too lazy and/or busy.

The Basics

The Basics

When do I need a Commercial Licence?

Simplest answer, For projects that make money a commercial license is required, If you have a project that aims to raise money for charity, feel free to reach out and pitch the idea, This would be a case-by-case basis and depends very heavily on the context.

Who pays for it?

Who pays for it?

The font is owned and paid for by whoever owns the end product. So if you are a design studio or sign painter or artist and you do a commission for a client, it will always be the client that pays the licence fee and owns the licence. It would still be your responsibility to ensure that payment is made, but you as the designer or artist wouldn't then hold a Licensee, nor would you need one for this
type of work.
