How to Access?
With the primary goal behind this project being to foster a revival of cló-Gaelach as a primary identity for the Irish language, we have set out a Two Route Access model in order to ensure we are acknowledging and address the foundational problems that history has brought forth before we can progress and create value in the modern day. Bringing forward a time where Irish designers can make a living through their language and their script.
Our Grassroots community is our biggest advantage and we will continue to centre our practice around the needs that community, hence we have created a Grassroots Access system, tearing down any barrier to interacting with our scripts for personal projects, so more people can create work as Gaeilge i gCló Gaelach.
We have also set up a Commercial System, we believe in this practice and can
see the value it will bring, the system seeks to support the creation of and safeguard the value that this script will have on the contemporary Irish creative scene, and allows us to reinvest in community projects, creative challenges and festivals, all of which we have ambitions in cultivating.

The Grassroots Access replaces a conventional personal license or a trial license with a complete Open Access model. By accessing the work through this route you are agreeing that you will only use the work for any of the approved use-cases which you can find listed below. As a USER, you may create with the font privately in any way you wish; the categories below cover the public-facing uses approved under Grassroots Access. This access type does not constitute a LICENSE and you will remain a USER until the purchase of a LICENSE at which point you become a LICENSED USER and gain the rights given to you by your purchased LICENSE type. (listed below) 1. Social Media Use in posts, memes, quote graphics, and recurring content, unlimited in volume or frequency, provided it isn't used to represent or displayed alongside a brand, company, charity, or organisation of any kind. 2. Conceptual Work Portfolio work, student coursework, zines, posters, banners, merch concepts, motion design, and design briefs/challenges, published anywhere, while the work remains conceptual. 3. Personal Identity Your own name, in any personal context, at any size or frequency. Business cards, incl. student & Post Grads, with a small credit line naming the font and foundry. Thesis/ coursework/degree show materials, while enrolled in education. 4. Protest Attendees: free use for your own placards, signs, banners, and slogans. Organisers: contact us before use for official event materials. Fundraisers aligned with our stated values: contact us to discuss. THE USER will be eligible for all future bug fixes and updates which will be made available via the website or through a voluntary Email chain you can opt into upon first download or through our site at a later date. Grassroots Vs Commercial
Grassroots work becomes Commercial when it starts generating capital value. When a brand or client adopts it, or when you use it yourself to make money from it. At that point, whoever is generating the value is responsible for the appropriate license. If a brand or client adopts a piece of Conceptual Work, the individual who created it is responsible for arranging and purchasing the license on the brand's behalf; the brand becomes the licensed holder, not the individual. If the individual monetises their own Conceptual Work themselves, they purchase the license and become the licensed holder. Early Career individuals are entitled to a 50% discount either way.

Our EULA's cover the use of the font software purchased in one (1x) commercial project as all personal projects are covered within our Grassroots Access Model - A personal project is considered something that has not been created for a commercial entity like a business, sole trader or brand. Personal projects can include conceptual brand identities & packaging, online briefs, poster designs and student projects, but please check out the list of approved projects for that access type and feel free to reach out if you don't see your use-case mentioned. We rely on a value-based licensing model based on the total number of people working for the client who we commonly refer to as THE LICENSEE. This structure was chosen to fairly charge the different types and sizes of clients, from international corporations to start ups, to individuals. Additionally, we have included a number of add-on licenses allowing THE LICENSEE to create additional or expanded quantities of certain designs, predominantly pertaining to physical merchandise including but not limited to apparel, art prints, homeware etc. These License types can be purchased as a bundle (incl. The Parent License) or an add-on at a later date.

IP Ownership
The typeface and / or the software and / or font software represented by the EULA remains the intellectual property of Gaeltacht-Type or its relevant Creator(s). A font license is tied to the original purchasing entity (THE LICENSEE) and does not automatically transfer if that business is sold, merged, rebranded, or restructured. If THE LICENSEE undergoes such a change, they must notify us by email at Failte@Gaeltacht-Type.com. We will confirm whether the existing license continues to apply, needs adjusting, or requires a new purchase, depending on the change.

Our EULA’s grants THE LICENSEE with the ability to share the font software with the same number of USERS or EMPLOYEES that has been selected at the checkout, and furthermore, what appears on the billing invoice after the purchase is complete. If THE LICENSEE is an individual (not a business entity), our EULA's grant usage of the font(s) for up to five (5x) USERS. Individuals should choose the 'YOURSELF' license option at the cart, and select the smallest license size (XS - 1-5 employees). If THE LICENSEE is a business, our EULA's grant them the right to install the font software at up to one (1x) location and must still adhere to the number of EMPLOYEES or USERS that they have licensed the font for. If the number of locations does not cover the number of EMPLOYEES within a company, THE LICENSEE can either select a higher tier at the checkout, or contact us for an extension if the purchase has already been made.

Third-Party Coverage
Third Party / Third Parties refers to any individual or entity including but not limited to, any franchisee, client, subcontractor, supplier or independent professional. Our EULA's grant THE LICENSEE with the ability to provide a temporary License to third parties for a period of time agreed upon between them for the purpose of a design project. Once the services have been completed, and the project terminated, any font files shared with any Third Party / Third Parties should be removed from all work stations and servers owned by the Third Party / Third Parties unless a proper font license has been purchased by the Third Party / Third Parties. THE LICENSEE has the responsibility to make sure that the font software is correctly removed from all third party devices stored throughout the project or task that required the font software once the services have been provided.

Our Desktop EULA enables THE LICENSEE to create digital images including posters, banners, and gifs in perpetuity. Approved formats include JPEG, PNG, EPS, GIF, MP4 all of which can be uploaded and hosted on the listed social media platforms within this agreement, unlimited URL web pages / sites and used for digital ads with no restrictions on number of impressions, engagements, views or clicks in perpetuity. Our Desktop EULA enables THE LICENSEE to create printed documents, books, reviews, newspapers, posters, flyers, and more generally, as part of any literary and media publishing activity. Products sold for financial gain are capped at 1,000 units before a License extension is required. Once THE LICENSEE has purchased the Desktop License, the font may be used to create and give away merchandise - including apparel, homeware, and stationery - without limit, for any purpose, as long as they are not sold for financial gain. Products sold for financial gain are capped at 100 units per design, before a License extension is required. A "design" refers to a single piece of artwork using the font - reproducing that artwork across different colours, sizes, or product types does not create a new design. Purchasing the Merchandising Extension, either with the original license or at a later date, enables THE LICENSEE to create and sell any amount of product. A copy of the font software may be sent as part of a file release to a pre-press bureau or printer if necessary. The fonts may also be embedded into files of the Portable Document Format (PDF), PostScript (PS), and Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) types.

Our Web License grants THE LICENSEE with the right to embed the font software into the CSS code of one (1x) website domain as titles and body copy. A lot of web design platforms these days have much simpler ways of embedding the font software through plugins and other functions. A common question is whether THE LICENSEE is allowed to upload a digital image or GIF that utilises a font to a web URL environment. The answer is yes, they are but they must purchase our Desktop License and do not need our Web License for this usage.

Our Logo / Mark License grants THE LICENSEE the right to use the font software as part of a design of a logo or an iconic mark that is representative of a one (1x) company, project, or person — and trademark it in an unlimited number of countries worldwide. Approved formats can include JPEG, PNG, EPS, GIF, MP4. Our Logo / Mark License also grants THE LICENSEE the right to publish the logo on all social media platforms, URL web pages / sites, used for digital/physical ads, and branded merchandise materials as long as they are not sold for financial gain — this usage would require a Logo + Merchandise add-on. (see more below).

Our Broadcasting EULA grants THE LICENSEE with the right to upload content utilising the font software in the form of digital or physical imagery under this agreement to digital and or / physical music streaming platforms including, but not limited to Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, public and or / streamed music events. Usages also include, but are not limited to album covers, public digital signage screens, digital images, public-facing videos played at events. THE LICENSEE may also utilise the font software under this agreement in broadcasting cases specially for video and moving image that is publicly transmitted through the following formats: Twitch, TV broadcasting, Youtube, movie streaming platforms such as, but limited to Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, cinema, cinema advertising and custom streaming. The creation of digital images and video is covered by the Desktop license, but if THE LICENSEE wishes to broadcast by any of the mediums listed above, they'll need a Broadcasting License to cover that usage. Our broadcasting license allows THE LICENSEE to broadcast to an unlimited number of countries worldwide with no restrictions on collected engagements including views, likes, dislikes and impressions.

The Merchandising Add-On can be purchased in addition to the Desktop and Logo/Mark Licenses either with the first purchase or at a later date allowing the User to extend the license quantity to cover an unlimited amount of the previously capped for-profit use cases.
The Desktop Merchandising Add-On uncaps the amount of Prints and Designs of Merch for-profit, giving you an unlimited amount, with no need to repurchase.
Similarly, The Logo Merchandising Add-On unlocks for-profit merchandise allowing you to use your logo/mark on Products for sale, for an unlimited amount of designs and product types.

License Breaches & Termination
Any breach of the terms of our EULA's shall be cause for termination of the license. In the event of termination, and without limitation of any remedies under law and equity, THE LICENSEE agrees to immediately return or destroy the font software, at the discretion of ALT.tf, and certify that no copy remains in your possession or control. If the font software is unlicensed, activated and used, this is a major breach of the terms of license. THE LICENSEE will therefore agree to retrospectively settle with the appropriate license by paying in full (in GBP Sterling £) for the usage. THE LICENSEE must agree to settle this within thirty (30) days and pass any information that ALT.tf requires. Use of fonts without license or adequate licensing will require a license to be paid for the usage on the softwares retrospectively. ALT.tf reserves the right to charge as it sees fit for time, expenses and legal work undertaken. Lastly, we reserve the right to ask for a copy / proof of this license at any time — so make sure it's stored and filed away correctly and safely.

From the moment THE LICENSEE’s work utilising the font software is public, the Creator of the purchased font software and ALT.tf is entitled to use THE LICENSEE’s company’s name, as well as any images and videos of the font use, for marketing and case study reasons ONLY to share on social media, host it on our website, and include in press material.
If THE LICENSEE does NOT wish to comply with this, then they'll need to contact us to discuss its removal from our standard EULA.

If THE LICENSEE does NOT wish to comply with this, then they'll need to contact us to discuss its removal from our standard EULA.

Gaeltacht Type, as the name suggests, levies on the collaborative and collective effort of many to bring forwards this practice into the modern day. We beleieve in starting as you mean to go on so from the beginning will implement a two route access system. This allows us to protect our practice, it's longevity and the people who will help deliver it to that next level, distributing value into both the practice of cló Gaelach type design and cló Gaelach as a writing system for the Irish language.

The Grassroots Access replaces a conventional personal license or a trial license with a completely open access to the file files in their entirety as well as a collection of public use cases of which THE USER can engage with in perpetuity. THE USER will be eligible for all future bug fixes and updates which will be made available via the website or through a voluntary Email chain you can opt into upon first download or through our site at a later date. Before accessing via this route THE USER must sign the terms and conditions which help protect the work from exploitation as this is a trust based system. Gaining access to the work through the grassroots access does not render THE USER a LICENSEE. You may read more about this approach and the approved project types here.

Our EULA’s cover the use of the font software purchased in one (1x) commercial project as all personal projects are covered within our grassroots access - A personal project is considered something that has not been created for a commercial entity like a business, sole trader or brand. Personal projects can include conceptual brand identities & packaging, online briefs, poster designs and student projects, but please check out the list of approved projects for that license type and feel free to reach out if you don’t see your use-case mentioned. We rely on a value-based licensing model based on the total number of people working for the client who we commonly refer to as THE LICENSEE. This structure was chosen to fairly charge the different types and sizes of clients, from international corporations to start ups, to individuals. Additionally, we have included a number of add-on licenses allowing THE LICENSEE to create additional or expanded quantities of certain designs mainly pertaining to physical merchandise including but not limited to apparel, art prints, homeware etc. These License types can be purchased as a bundle (incl. The Parent License) or an add-on at a later date.

Licensed Users & Locations
Our EULA’s grants THE LICENSEE with the ability to share the font software with the same number of USERS or EMPLOYEES that has been selected at the checkout, and furthermore, what appears on the billing invoice after the purchase is complete. If THE LICENSEE is an individual (not a business entity), our EULA's grant usage of the font(s) for up to five (5x) USERS. Individuals should choose the 'YOURSELF' license option at the cart, and select the smallest license size (XS - 1-5 employees). If THE LICENSEE is a business, our EULA's grant them the right to install the font software at up to one (1x) location and must still adhere to the number of EMPLOYEES or USERS that they have licensed the font for. If the number of locations does not cover the number of EMPLOYEES within a company, THE LICENSEE can either select a higher tier at the checkout, or contact us for an extension if the purchase has already been made.

Third-Party Coverage
Third Party / Third Parties refers to any individual or entity including but not limited to, any franchisee, client, subcontractor, supplier or independent professional. Our EULA's grant THE LICENSEE with the ability to provide a temporary License to third parties for a period of time agreed upon between them for the purpose of a design project. Once the services have been completed, and the project terminated, any font files shared with any Third Party / Third Parties should be removed from all work stations and servers owned by the Third Party / Third Parties unless a proper font license has been purchased by the Third Party / Third Parties. THE LICENSEE has the responsibility to make sure that the font software is correctly removed from all third party devices stored throughout the project or task that required the font software once the services have been provided.

Our Desktop EULA enables THE LICENSEE to create digital images including posters, banners, and gifs in perpetuity. Approved formats include JPEG, PNG, EPS, GIF, MP4 all of which can be uploaded and hosted on the listed social media platforms within this agreement, unlimited URL web pages / sites and used for digital ads with no restrictions on number of impressions, engagements, views or clicks in perpetuity. Our Desktop EULA enables THE LICENSEE to create printed documents, books, reviews, newspapers, posters, flyers, and zines. Products sold for financial gain are capped at 1,000 units before a License extension is required. A copy of the font software may be sent as part of a file release to a pre-press bureau or printer if necessary. The fonts may also be embedded into files of the Portable Document Format (PDF), PostScript (PS), and Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) types. Our Desktop EULA enables THE LICENSEE to create any non-commercial merchandise including apparel, Products sold for financial gain are capped at 100 units per design, before a License extension is required. * Purchasing the Merchandising Extension, either with the original license or at a later date, enables THE LICENSEE to create and sell any amount of product.

Our Web License grants the THE LICENSEE with the right to embed the font software into the CSS code of one (1x) website domain as titles and body copy. A lot of web design platforms these days have much simpler ways of embedding the font software through plugins and other functions. - A common question is whether THE LICENSEE is allowed to upload a digital image or GIF that utilises a font to a web URL environment. The answer is yes they are but they must purchase our Desktop License and will not need our Web License for this usage.

Our Logo / Mark License grants THE LICENSEE the right to use the font software as part of a design of a logo or an iconic mark that is representative of a one (1x) company, project, or person — and trademark it in an unlimited number of countries worldwide. Approved formats can include JEPG, PNG, EPS, GIF, MP4. - Our Logo / Mark License also grants THE LICENSEE the right to publish the logo on all social media platforms, URL web pages / sites, used for digital/physical ads, and branded merchandise materials as long as they are not sold for financial gain — this usage would require a product sales license extension (see more below).

Our Broadcasting EULA grants THE LICENSEE with the right to upload content utilising the font software in the form of digital or physical imagery under this agreement to digital and or / physical music streaming platforms including, but not limited to Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, public and or / streamed music events. Usages also include, but are not limited to album covers, public digital signage screens, digital images, public-facing videos played at events. - THE LICENSEE may also utilise the font software under this agreement in broadcasting cases specially for video and moving image that is publicly transmitted through the following formats: Twitch, TV broadcasting, Youtube, movie streaming platforms such as, but limited to Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, cinema, cinema advertising and custom streaming. - The creation of digital images and video is covered by the Desktop license, but if THE LICENSEE wishes to broadcast by any of the mediums listed above, they'll need a Broadcasting License to cover that usage. Our broadcasting license allows THE LICENSEE to broadcast to an unlimited number if countries worldwide with no restrictions on collected engagements including views, likes, dislikes and impressions.

What you can't do.
Additionally, here’s some of things that THE LICENSEE can NEVER do with our fonts: • Re-sell the font software • Use the fonts to promote violence or discrimination • Convert the fonts to different formats • Modify, reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble • Make new fonts based on the typeface design • Change font names • Give the fonts to unlicensed parties • Put the fonts on public servers or public repositories

License Breaches & Termination
Any breach of the terms of our EULA's shall be cause for termination of the license. In the event of termination, and without limitation of any remedies under law and equity, THE LICENSEE agrees to immediately return or destroy the font software, at the discretion of ALT.tf, and certify that no copy remains in your possession or control. If the font software is unlicensed, activated and used, this is a major breach of the terms of license. THE LICENSEE will therefore agree to retrospectively settle with the appropriate license by paying in full (in GBP Sterling £) for the usage. THE LICENSEE must agree to settle this within thirty (30) days and pass any information that ALT.tf requires. Use of fonts without license or adequate licensing will require a license to be paid for the usage on the softwares retrospectively. ALT.tf reserves the right to charge as it sees fit for time, expenses and legal work undertaken. Lastly, we reserve the right to ask for a copy / proof of this license at any time — so make sure it's stored and filed away correctly and safely.
